[DiaryPoint = Reporter Choi Seung-jin] The 21st Busan Fireworks Festival takes place November 7 around Gwangalli Beach, Igidae and Dongbaekseom. According to the official schedule, the fireworks begin at 7 p.m., with the Busan multi-fireworks show running for 30 minutes from 7:25 p.m.
The festival gets underway at 1 p.m. Busking performances and activity booths will be set up along Gwangalli Beach from 1 to 6 p.m., and the Republic of Korea Air Force’s Black Eagles aerobatic team will give a 10-minute air show at 4 p.m. A brief fireworks preview and a prologue featuring messages from residents follow from 6 p.m.
The fireworks program opens at 7 p.m. with a performance by a guest team from China. After a 10-minute system check, the Busan multi-fireworks show begins at 7:25 p.m., featuring effects including a Niagara-style display and 25-inch aerial shells. A five-minute curtain-call display, dedicated to residents and event staff, is scheduled for 7:55 p.m.
Free viewing around Gwangalli, Igidae and Dongbaekseom
General admission areas on Gwangalli Beach are free. Reserved seats cost 100,000 won for R seats and 70,000 won for S seats. The paid seating areas are on the sand in front of Hotel Aqua Palace and Homers Hotel in Gwangalli. Regular ticket sales closed at 5 p.m. on November 6.
Organizers list Igidae and Dongbaekseom, as well as Gwangalli Beach, as festival venues. All three are part of the official event area, but the fireworks may look different in size and visibility depending on where you watch. Follow on-site access controls and staff instructions.
Gwangan Bridge and nearby roads to close; use the metro
The upper deck of Gwangan Bridge will be fully closed from 3:30 p.m. until midnight on the day of the event, and the lower deck from 6:30 p.m. until midnight. From 10 a.m., vehicle traffic will be blocked on Gwangandaebyeon-ro between Eonyang Intersection and Meeting Plaza. Access toward the beacon on Hwangnyeongsan-ro will be restricted from 2 p.m.
Busan City says it plans to add metro service and extend the last train by 25 minutes beyond its usual schedule on festival day. City buses will also run more frequently and for longer, while some routes will be diverted or stops temporarily closed because of road restrictions near the venue. With roads around Gwangalli set to close in stages, public transportation is the better option than driving.
Nearby stations and routes home may be crowded as spectators leave immediately after the show. The city advises groups to agree on a meeting spot in advance and take care to keep children close. The schedule and restricted areas may change depending on conditions at the venue.
