[Diary Point = Reporter Eom Ju-yong] Some Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra owners have reported that after installing One UI 9 and performing a factory reset, their device gets stuck during initial setup because the Samsung account page fails to load. Samsung has identified the issue as a problem with the System WebView behaving unstably on certain carrier networks, and is advising users to avoid unnecessary factory resets until the issue is resolved.
The problem occurs at the final step of initial setup, where the device either fails to connect to Samsung account servers or displays an error such as "Webpage not available." Since setup cannot be completed, users cannot reach the home screen, making the phone unusable in its current state. Based on information available so far, however, there is no indication that the issue causes permanent damage or makes the device unrecoverable.
Samsung's account support team has advised users to update System WebView to the latest version and, if no separate WebView app is installed, to also update Google Chrome before attempting setup again. The company also suggested connecting to Wi-Fi instead of mobile data, or signing out of the Samsung account and signing back in.
If sign-in still fails on the device itself, users can log into the Samsung account website on another device, agree to the latest terms of service, and then try setup again. If the problem persists, Samsung recommends contacting customer support. Samsung began rolling out One UI 9 to the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and S26 Ultra starting September 16, 2026, but has not yet announced which firmware version will fix this error or when it will be released.
