[Diary Point = Reporter Joo-yong Eom] Hyundai Motor has launched the Elantra N Monochrome, a special edition of its high-performance compact sedan the Elantra N, in South Korea on October 29. As of October 28, pricing and detailed trim information had not yet been released.
True to its name, the Elantra N Monochrome unifies the exterior and interior color palette into a single tone family. It comes in two colors, Black and Performance Blue, toning down the bold color contrasts of the standard Elantra N in favor of a more monochromatic look.
Dedicated wheels and materials are the highlight
The exterior features newly designed forged wheels exclusive to the Monochrome edition. The front and rear bumpers, brake calipers, and steering wheel buttons are also finished in tones that match the body color.
Inside, the steering wheel and other components are wrapped in Alcantara. Carbon fiber is used on select exterior parts, including the side mirrors, setting the Monochrome apart from the standard Elantra N in both appearance and feel.
Hyundai's announced domestic price for the 2026 Elantra N is 33.56 million won. That price includes the standard 280-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission is a 2.08 million won option.
However, that figure applies to the standard Elantra N and cannot be assumed to carry over directly to the Monochrome edition. The final price, base and higher-spec configurations, and transmission options for the Monochrome will need to be confirmed through Hyundai's sales channels after the launch date.
Comparison with the standard model expected once pricing is revealed
The Monochrome edition is aimed primarily at buyers who value distinctive design and premium materials over the driving performance and N-specific features already offered by the standard Elantra N. Conversely, shoppers looking to save on cost or customize their own exterior and interior combination should check the pricing and options before comparing it with the standard model.
Hyundai will display the actual vehicle at the Hyundai N Festival, held at Everland Speedway from October 31 to November 1. The automaker also plans to run pop-up stores at Shinsegae Department Store in Seoul starting November 5, and at Shinsegae Department Store in Daegu starting November 13.
