[Diary Point = Reporter Kim Jung-hoon] A forecast has emerged suggesting Samsung Electronics' dividend per share for 2027 could reach 12,000 won. However, this figure is not an amount confirmed by Samsung Electronics, but rather an estimate based on assumed earnings and shareholder return levels.
At its board meeting on August 21, Samsung Electronics approved a plan projecting shareholder returns of roughly 90 trillion to 110 trillion won for 2026. This follows the company's existing policy of returning 50% of free cash flow to shareholders over the three years from 2024 to 2026. The company paid regular dividends of 9.8 trillion won each in 2024 and 2025, and in 2025 also carried out a special dividend along with share buybacks and cancellations.
Samsung Electronics has stated it plans to distribute roughly 30 trillion won in cash dividends, including regular dividends, in the third quarter of 2026. The specific dividend amount and total payout will be finalized at a board meeting in late October. According to Samsung Electronics' investor relations notice, the record date for the Q3 2026 dividend is September 30, with further details to be disclosed following the board's resolution.
The forecast of a 12,000 won dividend per share in 2027 came from an analysis published on a financial YouTube channel on October 23. The video calculated that if the stock price hovers around 210,000 won, the dividend yield could reach approximately 5.6%. The projection factored in estimated 2027 operating profit, net income, capital expenditure levels, and shareholder return ratios.
However, Samsung Electronics has not announced a shareholder return policy for 2027 or beyond, nor has it confirmed a 12,000 won dividend per share. The method and scale of shareholder returns for 2026, apart from the Q3 dividend, will also be decided at a board meeting in January 2027, once the 2026 business results are finalized.
The only confirmed near-term schedule items are the board's decision on the Q3 2026 dividend in late October and the Q3 earnings conference call set for 10 a.m. on October 29.
