[DiaryPoint = Reporter Park Bo-young] South Korea’s 2027 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), the country’s university entrance exam, will be held on November 19. November 9 marks 10 days until the test. Test takers should check when and where to collect their admission tickets and confirm their test sites, as well as review what they may bring and what is prohibited.
At the orientation on November 18, the day before the test, students will receive their admission tickets and check the test site and room listed on them. Follow the instructions from the school or education support office where you submitted your application for the orientation location and time. On test day, all students must enter their assigned rooms by 8:10 a.m., whether or not they chose to take the first session.
The admission ticket and a photo ID are essential. Accepted IDs include a resident registration card, driver’s license, unexpired passport and youth card. A student ID bearing a photo, name, date of birth and the school principal’s seal is also accepted. Mobile IDs are not allowed. If you lose your admission ticket, bring one copy of the same original photo attached to your application and report to the test site’s administration office by 8 a.m. on test day to have it reissued.
Permitted writing supplies include a black computer-marking pen, a black pencil, an eraser, white correction tape and 0.5 mm black mechanical-pencil lead. Mechanical pencils and computer-marking pens will also be provided in the test room. Only an analog clock with hour and minute hands is allowed, and it must have no communications or payment features and no LCD or LED display.
Mobile phones, smartwatches, tablets and earphones, as well as other items with communications or payment functions, are banned. Also prohibited are clocks with electronic displays, electronic dictionaries, tumblers, e-cigarettes and portable chargers. The Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation states that “all electronic devices are, in principle, prohibited from entering the test site, regardless of whether they are used during the exam or what functions they have.” Any prohibited item brought in by necessity must be handed to a proctor before the first session begins. Failure to do so will be treated as cheating.
Test takers and their families should confirm where to collect the admission ticket and how to get to the test site, and remove electronics and other prohibited items from bags before test day. CSAT results are scheduled to be released on December 11.
