[Diary Point Reporter Park Bo-young] In the preview for Episode 11 of SBS’s Friday–Saturday drama Doctor X: The Age of the White Mafia, released on the 7th, Park Tae-kyung (Kim Woo-seok) asks Gye Soo-jung (Kim Ji-won), “Could you let the surgery fail?” Episode 11 is scheduled to air at 9:50 p.m. on the 13th. According to SBS’s official description, the series stars Kim Ji-won, Lee Jung-eun, Son Hyun-joo and Kim Woo-seok, is directed by Lee Jung-rim and written by Pyeon Sung-geun.

The preview puts Park Tae-kyung’s desperate plea front and center. SBS describes the series as one in which its protagonist “smashes injustice with skill alone,” and explains that Gye Soo-jung refuses duties unrelated to her medical license, such as making rounds or attending company dinners. Against that backdrop, Park’s request for a failed operation is presented as a plea that clashes with the principles she has upheld.

The scene follows the ending of Episode 10, which aired on the 7th. The ending clip released by SBS showed Park Tae-kyung trying to kill a patient and Jo Won-jin (Lee Jin-hee) breaking down in tears. Kim Seung-hyo (Jeon Gook-hwan) then appeared before Gye Soo-jung and said, “It’s been a long time, Doctor X.” SBS’s character profile describes Gye Soo-jung as a brilliant surgeon sent to fill a staffing gap at Guseo University, and gives her guiding principle as: “I don’t fail, either.”

Episode 10 drew a nationwide rating of 17.7%, according to Nielsen Korea, with a peak of 20.2%. Wikitree reported that the figure was up 2.4 percentage points from Episode 9’s nationwide rating of 15.3%. Released after Episode 10 revealed Park Tae-kyung’s actions, the Episode 11 preview leaves the reason for his request to let the surgery fail as a major question for the next installment.

Doctor X is a medical drama about the brilliant surgeon Gye Soo-jung confronting injustice within a hospital. SBS’s official program page lists SBS and Studio S as planners, with Lee Ok-gyu as executive producer and Lee Jae-woo and Yoon Geon-hee as producers. The series airs Fridays and Saturdays at 9:50 p.m. on SBS, with Episode 11 scheduled for the 13th.
