[DiaryPoint = Reporter Park Bo-young] Netflix’s series “The Time of the Siege” premiered November 6. The eight-episode drama depicts the 1985 siege of the Palace of Justice in Bogotá, Colombia, the military’s retaking of the building, and the families of victims seeking justice.

The series is a fictional story inspired by real events and public records. It follows the events of November 6, 1985, when the M-19 armed group entered the Palace of Justice and took more than 300 people, including Supreme Court justices, hostage. Colombian forces retook the building the following day.

Netflix says at least 94 people were killed or disappeared in the incident, and that the series also traces the families’ pursuit of justice over more than two decades. The production was developed after more than seven years of research drawing on documents, testimony, and interviews.

Natalia Reyes plays Pilar Navarrete, Luna Baxter portrays Olga Behar, and Mariana Gómez plays La Mona. Carlos Manuel Vesga appears as Colonel Alfonso Plazas Vega, while Robinson Díaz plays Belisario Betancur.

Santiago Alarcón, Nicole Santamaría, Andrés Castañeda, and Camilo Amores are also among the principal cast. Natalia Santa is the showrunner, with Jairo Bustamante, Édgar Nieto, and Samir Oliveros directing.

Netflix’s Help Center says original films and series generally become available at midnight Pacific Time. Applying that schedule to a November 6 release puts the premiere at 5 p.m. Korea time the same day. Viewers can search for “The Time of the Siege” on Netflix’s app or website.
