[Diary Point = Reporter Eom Ju-yong] Gmarket will launch its “Gguok Membership Life+” on Nov. 10 for ₩4,900 a month. The plan bundles access to Disney+ Standard with Ads, Smile Cash rewards on Gmarket purchases and free returns on Star Delivery items.

Members earn 4% on the first ₩50,000 of eligible purchases and 2% on the portion above ₩50,000, up to ₩3.2 million. Spending ₩50,000 earns ₩2,000 in rewards. At ₩195,000 in purchases, the first ₩50,000 earns ₩2,000 and the remaining ₩145,000 earns ₩2,900, matching the monthly fee.

That means members need ₩195,000 in eligible purchases each month to offset the fee through Gmarket rewards alone. Spending just ₩50,000 a month earns ₩2,000, leaving ₩2,900 of the fee uncovered. The calculation applies the reward rates to eligible spending in each tier and does not assign a value to Disney+ access.

Disney+ will begin rolling out its Standard with Ads plan on Nov. 10 at ₩7,000 a month. It supports simultaneous streaming on up to two devices, but includes ads and does not allow content downloads. The monthly price of the Standard plan for new subscribers will rise to ₩11,500 on the same day.

For households considering a new Standard with Ads subscription, the ₩4,900 plan plus shopping rewards may be worth comparing. Existing Disney+ subscribers should check during sign-up whether they can link their current account and whether their existing payment would overlap with the new subscription. Disney+ says terms for subscriptions through partners may vary by partner.

Compared with other shopping memberships, Gmarket’s selling points are the Disney+ bundle and 4% rewards on initial spending. Its price matches Naver Plus Membership at ₩4,900 a month, while Coupang Wow Membership costs ₩7,890 and includes Coupang Play along with delivery and return benefits. The effective cost of each membership depends on its rewards and delivery terms, as well as whether a subscriber already pays for a streaming service.

Life+ starts Nov. 10. Disney+’s ad-supported plan will also roll out from that date, so availability may vary by account. Disney+ said the plan will be available to all users starting Nov. 17.
