[DiaryPoint = Reporter Eom Ju-yong] Manchester City fell 1–3 away to Nottingham Forest on the 7th (local time), suffering their third straight Premier League defeat. After 10 matches, City are third on 21 points, six behind leaders Arsenal (27), who have played one more game.

Arsenal beat Hull City 1–0 on the same day to move to 27 points, with nine wins and one loss. Brighton moved into second on 22 points after a 2–0 win over Brentford on the 8th. City are one point behind Brighton, who hold the advantage on goal difference.

City opened the season with seven straight league wins, but have since lost to Aston Villa, Brighton and Nottingham Forest in succession. Opta analysts said that a three-game losing streak immediately following a seven-game winning run is only the second such case in England’s top flight, after Sheffield Wednesday in the 1904–05 season.

Against Forest, City conceded twice early, to Jair Cunha in the sixth minute and Liam Delap in the 18th. Rayan Cherki pulled one back seven minutes into the second half, but Delap scored again in the 28th minute to seal the result.

The defeat leaves City six points off the top and behind Brighton in the standings. It is too early to say that a three-game losing streak after 10 league matches has ended their title challenge, but their next task is to halt the slide and close the gap on the leaders.

The Premier League resumes on the 21st after the November international break. City host Fulham, while Arsenal travel to Newcastle United.
